Microsoft will end its extended support of Windows 7 on. Windows Server 2008 R2 (Windows 7’s server counterpart) was released at the same time.
Windows 7 was developed by Microsoft and it was released to manufacturing on and it became generally available on October 22, 2009, less than 3 years after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista.
